In the classic Sci-Fi movie, Stargate with James Spader as Dr. Daniel Jackson, he is an archaeologist and linguist trying to discern the symbols on the “portal to the stars”. The navigational aspect of the Stargate portal device turns out to be star constellations with 6 symbols for the destination and one point for the origin.
Jumping from universe to universe may be easier than arranging star constellations to select a destination within in a galaxy. In our universe we consider the below fixed values or scientific constants, however, in other universes these values may vary from one universe to the next. The universal laws of nature may differ from one universe to another within the multiverse. Just like a briefcase combination lock, not all universal constants need to vary in each universe. Maybe some constants remain the same as universes share the same constant values.

Possible quantifiable indicators to determine one’s position in multidimensional space:
- The Speed of Light
- Planck constant
- The properties of chemical elements (e.g. atomic weight)
- Variable decay rates of certain radioactive elements. Decay rates are the speed at which its unstable atomic nuclei transform by emitting radiation.
- Pi
Other possible multiverse navigation elements:
- Symbols convey meaning, a complex structure of information such as constellations, Chinese, Egyptian, Hebrew or Japanese/Kanji
Limiting Factors
- Sensors on a device to take measurements of universal constants
- Measurements may need to be manually calculated
- You cannot traverse other universes with anything, like the Terminator movie , so whatever you need should be close to the destination when you arrive. So much for bringing home gifts.
